Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has announced the results of its 2024 project evaluations. After document review and on-site defence evaluations, a research project titled “Study on Evolution of Ecosystem Functions and Regional Environmental Effects in the Tumen River Basin” led by Professor Zhu Weihong, Vice‐President of Yanbian University, has been awarded funding from the NSFC Regional Innovation and Development Joint Fund. The project will receive direct grant of 2.6 million yuan, marking Yanbian University’s first-ever approval under this prestigious funding program, a historic breakthrough for the institution.

Recently, the 2024 National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Intelligent Competition in Surveying and Mapping Discipline, organized by the Education Working Committee of the Chinese Society for Surveying and Mapping, hosted by West Yunan University of Applied Sciences and co-sponsored by Southern Surveying and Mapping Group, has concluded successfully. The competition attracted nearly 8,000 students from over 360 universities nationwide, setting new records in both scale and influence. Yanbian University’s team performed exceptionally well in the contest, winning two first prizes and five second prizes.

Yanbian University（YBU）was founded in 1949, stands as an example of the earliest universities established by the Communist Party of China in ethnic minority regions.
