Recently, the results of the 2024 “Higher Education Press Cup” Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling, jointly organized by the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM), were announced. Our university achieved outstanding results, securing one National Second Prize, along with 6 First Prizes, 15 Second Prizes, and 5 Third Prizes in the Jilin Division.

Founded in 1992, the annual competition was one of the first 19 events listed in the Ranking List of Academic Competitions in Higher Education Institutions. It is one of the four major national contests strongly supported by the Ministry of Education and stands as China’s largest-scale foundational discipline contest, with significant influence at home and abroad.

This year's competition attracted 65,761 teams (59,278 undergraduate teams and 6,483 vocational college teams) from 1,788 universities/campuses across China and countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia, with nearly 200,000 participants.

Yanbian University placed a high priority on the competition, providing extensive support in publicity, team selection, training and competition organization since March 2024. Associate Professor Zhang Jingwen, an expert in modelling competitions from Shenyang Jianzhu University, was invited to conduct pre-contest training. The competing students demonstrated teamwork, innovation, and outstanding performance, fully showcasing the positive spirit of our university's youth and earning honors for school.
